HMDWL 44! We love searching for the hot holiday toy of the year (Wii!), potato pancakes, and Rob’s Christmas soup tradition (with a little help from Cortny!).

We are also sad to report that Sara’s darling SallyPNut lost her battle with cancer on Saturday, Dec. 16. She was the prettiest princess and will be missed and remembered forever.

Mary Ann’s Pretzel Hugs Thingies

  • Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper (Mary Ann has used foil in a pinch).
  • Cover with a single layer of pretzels. She uses Seyfert’s Extra Dark Extra Salty Beer Pretz-Os, but they’re hard to find. You want small round ones, but you could try square as well.
  • Put a Hershey’s hug in the center of each pretzel. You could also use Rollos or the caramel filled Hershey Kisses. Plain regular kisses don’t melt as well, and won’t work.
  • Put in a 350 degree oven for about 2 minutes until softened but NOT melted down.
  • Take out and place an M&M in the center of each, and press down the M&M.

Thank you for the recipe, Mary Ann!

Jungle Marge’s Cauliflower Au Gratin

  • 1 head cauliflower
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 3 T butter
  • pepper to taste
  • 3 slices Kraft Old English Cheese plus more for decoration (or Deli Deluxe. You want the thick American cheese slices, but not the singles in the wrapper.)
  • bread crumbs

Strip off outer leaves from cauliflower and trim stem so it can sit flat in the dish. Boil or steam cauliflower until tender, then drain. In a saucepan, combine soup, milk, butter, and pepper. Add cheese slices and heat until medium heat until smooth. Place cauliflower in greased casserole. Pour sauce over the top, lifting the head gently to be sure sauce goes both over and under. Sprinkle top with bread crumbs. Add cheesy decoration of your choice. The sky’s the limit! Bake at 350 until bubbly, about 1 hour.
