My Sony-Ericsson Walkman phone has the same thing, only it’s called TrackID or something like that, it’s really cool and I’m always amazed at the weird songs it can identify.

Also it’s fun to just hum some random smelody and see what the phone thinks it is.

Those flakies remind ME of a treat I like to make too! Except mine is more of a crescent-roll-in-a-can dough, lay down a triangle, spread on some whipped up cream cheese/honey/lemon yogurt, spoon on some BLUEBERRY preserves or whathaveyou, lay down second triangle on top, pinch edges, brush with milk, sprinkle with sugar, bake, and scromp scromp scromp, delish! I love my neti pot for soothing a sore throat or the onset of a cold! I don’t think it’s much different than gargling with salt water. I much prefer it to taking medicine.

I recently did the Scharffen Berger chocolate tour in Berkeley. It’s small and intimate, and if you love dark chocolate, you’ll appreciate the samples! The “lecture” is very long and extensive tho.

the neti pot is really amazing. my guy uses it regularly and would swear that it has saved his life. i’ve done it a few times and its not too bad. just don’t make the water too hot and don’t put a ton of salt in it.

speaking of factory tours etc. have you heard of the show “how its made”? they play it on the discovery channel and its like mr. rogers on crack. i love it. here’s a link: http://science.discovery.com/fansites/howitsmade/howitsmade.html they film it in canada. its just simply amazing!

i toured the hershey chocolate factory when i was in 3rd grade on a school trip and it rocked. we even got to go and do a blind taste test for some “new” candy bar. i think it turned out to be the whatchmacallit.

I haven’t visited the jelly belly factory yet, although I would really love to. I hear you can get a big cheap bag of something called “belly flops” which are like factory seconds, deformed jelly bellys but still taste delish. My husband and I visited the mesa boogie factory recently in Petaluma, although not quite as exciting for me.. it was interesting for about 10 minutes. They make Guitar and Bass amps and speaker cabinets.

i LITERALLY slapped my thigh upon hearing the pants-splitting tale and upon remembering the skirt equivalent.

once, in high school, i was in chemistry lab and i was sitting on the counter (totally safe, i know) and for some reason, slid VIOLENTLY back on the counter DIRECTLY INTO one of the gas jets, poking a hole THROUGH my jeans, THROUGH my underwear and INTO MY ASS. i still wore those jeans, though.

Man I was laughing so hard at those split pants stories. That Glinda the Good Witch rips her dress off is a classic from a few epsiodes back that I love too. But I wasn’t laughing today when it happened to me. I went in the bathroom at work and forgot I wasn’t wearing button fly jeans and ripped my zipper out of my jeans! I just ripped the teeth of my zipper off. I had to change into my gym shorts for the rest of the day. Fortunately today it is in the 50s in Atlanta.

I have a red Kitchen Aid mixer, too! And I love it. It’s verrrry good for mashed potatoes. Be sure to warm the metal bowl first with the potato water (as you are draining the boiled potatoes).

I, like Nicole, have to do the Santa thing. My boy is nine, and although he is excited about Christmas morning, I might be *more* excited. I love to see my husband and my son open their presents!

Congrats on the mixer, I have been with mine for 10 years now and am still deeply in love with it.

Laura’s chocolate cherry cookies? OMG how freaking delicious were those? I hate cherry with chocolate and I loved them. WTF?

Oh, and if you’re a carnivore, the dough hook on your mixer is awesome for stirring like meatloaf so you don’t have to get that crap all over your hands.

I suggest as a designer that bathrooms be light color (especially small ones) like white, blues, and yellows. Yes Rob change the wood shower pole to a metal/silverish one and it will make a huge difference.

I post on the forum pictures of my old bathroom and the fish shower curtain. Now I have glass doors…which I wish I had better glass doors.

I LOVE Chick-Fil-A. Growing up in South Georgia, a trip to the mall also meant Chick-Fil-A. That and the video arcade while mom shopped. There was an organ store across from Chick-Fil-A and the salesmen were always playing elaborately trying to atract buyers. Ah memories.

In our tiny town, spring is the time of the manure smell. And we live 1/2 block from the chinese restaurant’s back door, so roundabout 5 o’clock, our house has the delicious smell of … what? Crispy fried eggplant, I guess.

Philadelphia is famous for its neighborhood smells. The Inquirer once did a map of the smells of Philly. Each of the cheesesteak places smell up the whole neighborhood, especially John’s at 4th and South.

My parents knew I was gay at a very early age, but what must have really sealed the deal when I asked my aunt for a Braun Multipractic immersion blender at the age of 9 (25 years ago) for Christmas.

My dad wouldn’t let me mount the wall rack to the wall, so I fashioned my own counter stand with lumber scraps from the garage. I filled the cracks with spackle, sanded it smooth, and painted it white.

As you told the Wizard of Oz stories it reminded me of podcast from the past called Cousins Queer. They were talking about a very funny story where they went to a school production of the same show and this girl was the tornado and she was in this costume that completely covered her entire body and she was spinning on the stage and felt right into the orchestra pit and it was horrible that it happened but they couldn’t stop laughing and it was so funny hearing them describing it just like Rob did.

I have been getting caught up on your shows and loved it! I am big fan of tv as well and I have to say my new favorite is Pushing Daisies and Dirty Sexy Money and of course the oldies like Heroes, Survivor, Ugly Betty etc are other big favs!

I know!! Luckily, we went to another wedding a couple weeks later and chowed down on some of those little nuts o’ goodness.

Next time we’re in Vegas, we’ll get married again and have Jordan almonds for dinner. exclusively.

We actually purposely left out the Jordan almonds, though I agree they are delicious. The complete list was white chocolate covered pretzels, rock candy, vanilla jelly bellies, licorice chalk, white m&m’s, white salt water taffy, champagne bubbles (made by jelly belly). Choosing only white candy limited the choices, but c’mon…so yummy!!

OK…Runza was the ethnic name and then chain actually bought the name of the “Runza” so poor runza makers had to give them another name….alot like the coffee shop, that was named Starbuck’s, a FAMILY NAME, and the evil STARBUCKS made them CHANGE THEIR NAME…which leads me to How Much Do We Love THE UNDERDOG?

So! Not quite a rib or an onion ring…I love a micro brewery combo sampler…when they serve all the beers on a plank o’wood….mmmmm sooo goood. I know its not food but makes me smile…especially since we are on the brink of Oktoberfest meine Freunde! Tschuess!

You probably don’t remember this (why would you?) but I grew up in San Francisco. Yes, I’m a California girl, even though I now live in “the Manhattan of Adams County” PA.

I was so excited that you were going to love It’s Its, because I love them like crazy. Mint is my favorite but I wouldn’t refuse any flavor. It’s so brutal to NOT be able to eat them ever.

Other things that you should try out because they are freaking amazing are:

- The garlic fries at Giants park. Slathered with toasty smushy Gilroy garlic and fresh parsley, they are to die for. The only thing that my garlic-loving husband has ever said didn’t disappoint him. Only available in SF and Seattle.

- Indian pizza from Zante. I know it sounds crazy but this stuff is the bomb, and can ONLY be found in SF. One of a kind. Here’s the link: http://www.zantespizza.com/ (go into Online Ordering then Zantes Specialty Pizzas to see pictures) Start with the Vegetarian Indian Pizza, it is delicious!

I’m super sad I missed Rob’s bay area debut. I’m very glad the trip went well! Sounds like you guys had a LOT of fun. I went to high school in mill valley and had a good friend that lived right outside of muir woods so I spent a lot of time there. its SO gorgeous there. I just had an its-it from the icebox vending machine at work (subsidized 50 cents!)I agree, cappucino is the best.. sadly, we just have vanilla at work. I hope you have another listener event soon (maybe in silicon valley area?) and I will be able to make it. Im so sadsies I missed out.

Just had to tell you that I used to work at the Hyatt in Burlingame which is right next door to the It’s It factory. Everyday I went to work, I could smell chocolate in the air. Yum!

All these theater stories reminded me of one of my most embarassing moments. My cousin was an actress in high school in Atlanta. During the Summer she went to perform at the Jekyll Island Amphitheatre. My family went to visit for a whole week. We went to see them do West Side Story and sat on the front row which was really close to the stage. Of course, at the end a guy comes out on stage and shoots the loudest gun toward us as he is shooting Tony. It scared me to death. The next night we go to see it again and on the front row but just before the shooting I get up and go to the back. The guy comes out, shoots Tony, and as he is dying I tried to sneak back into my seat on the front row. Marie is holding Tony’s dead body right at the front of the stage when I trip over someone’s feet and practically land on top of them. My cousin later told me that one of the actors came back stage and said, “Some asshole just ruined the whole show.” That asshole was me.

Michael (QCast CT) directed me in a production of “Pippin.” Now, I was playing Pippin’s father the King. While singing the “War is a Science” song, I was choreographed to dance on the benches behind the chorus, while they sang and di their thing. I need to clarify, I am not a dancer.
Of course, on the night we were videotaping the show, as I am dancing, the bench came out from under my feet, my feet fly over my head and I crash land on my shoulders and neck behind the chorus. The kid playing Pippin (who I hated) runs up to me and says (in character) “Are you okay father?” As a true theater professional, I say to him “Get the f*ck away from me!” bounce back up and continue the song.
I need to get Michael to put it on youtube so you can see.
I would come into my parents house much after the run ended and find her watching the video tape and rewinding to the fall and laughing her ass off. Ah memories.

What a way to start the day! Even though I am sick, tired, had a busy travel and tequila-filled weekend before heading back in to another Crisis week at work, I am so so so happy to receive an honorable mention.
I had listened to the episode yet, because I was convinced that I would lose, not even be mentioned - and my little boozy heart was going to break.
All the other drinks you mentioned were so gimmicky and frou-frou, I didn’t think my manly cocktail would go over.

As for Stirring Blood Orange Bitters, I really can’t recommend it highly enough. It’s a beatiful thing, not all gross like normal bitters, and it really balances the sweetness of the Cointreau. It was actually the basis of the cocktail, because I found it in a regular mall liquor store south of the Mason-Dixon line. In fact, it was the only Stirrings product they had.

How much do we love a plethora of drink recipes?!

This episode was so great, I plugged in the headphones as I was cleaning the house Sunday afternoon and by 10 minutes in, had to pour myself an Absolut Peach martini just to keep up.

Great show. You know you two are the reason Michael and I got the Wii. After listening to your story about Target (I forget what episode it was), I was determined to get one and within a week we did!
I temporarily lost custody of the Wii to Michael while he transitions us to Florida, but I will see my baby in a few weeks for visitation and then permanently in October. I miss my Wii.
One of our favorite games is Excite Truck. Now, I HATE racing games, but this is really fun.
We finished Super Paper Mario. I liked it, but thought it was a bit too story driven.
Now, if only they made Kingdom Hearts for the Wii, I might wet myself a little with excitement. That was my all-time favorite PS2 game.
